Feeney and the FBI Anniversary Week 7 Deadly Questions for "Representative #3"
QUESTION #4: What was your golf score when you played St. Andrews with Jack Abramoff... and did he let you win?
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 19, 2008
TALLAHASSEE - Saturday is a great day for golf. Florida's majestic courses are abuzz with competition, either carefree or serious.
It makes one wonder if Florida's most corrupt member of Congress, Tom Feeney (R-24th), is playing golf today. Having less campaign money in the bank than his Democratic challenger and being criticized for using taxpayer money on politically convenient mailings and phone calls, it's a good bet that Feeney is hitting the links today for a much needed - but not deserved - dose of fresh air, exercise and sunshine.
With only four days left until the first anniversary of the public relationship between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the man it affectionately refers to as "Representative #3", it's impossible not to have golf on the mind.
To celebrate the upcoming occasion, the Florida Democratic Party is asking Feeney "Seven Deadly Questions" that he has left unanswered. On this beautiful day in Florida, we turn to Tom Feeney's infamous golf game and offer a two-part question:
Question #4: What was your golf score when you played St. Andrews with Jack Abramoff... and did he let you win?
Many consider St. Andrews, Scotland the worldwide home of golf. Host to the Open Championship, the oldest of golf's four major championships, St. Andrews has a range of courses that cater to a range of neophytes and the world's greatest players.
Credit convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff for making sure his guests played at the very best. Feeney's sordid trip included rounds at the legendary Royal & Ancient Golf Club, a golf institution that celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2004.
"Can we trust Florida's most corrupt politician to be honest about his golf score at St. Andrews? Or did Abramoff let Feeney get away with a few mulligans, gimme-putts, and lost balls?" Florida Democratic Party spokesman Mark Bubriski said. "Other than illicit relationships with crooks, we still don't know Tom Feeney's handicap. But we hope he enjoyed his golf trip, since those 18 rounds in Scotland may prove to be the fatal stroke of his career in Congress."
The Florida Democratic Party will release one deadly question a day through April 23, exactly one year after news broke that Tom Feeney was under investigation by the FBI.
