Florida Democratic Party Statement on Crist and Republicans Ducking Questions on Ethics

NEWS FROM THE FLORIDA DEMOCRATIC PARTY

For Immediate Release: December 11, 2008

Tallahassee, FL - Responding to RPOF Spokeswoman Erin VanSickle's statement on Governor Charlie Crist allowing Republican corruption fester under his watch, Florida Democratic Party Spokesman Eric Jotkoff released the following statement:

"It is telling that the Republican Party of Florida does not rebut the charges of corruption or defend Gov. Charlie Crist's lack of courage to root out corruption in the Republican Party. By refusing to even address the serious charges against embattled Speaker Ray Sansom, and dismissing out of hand Chair Thurman's calling on Crist to order an investigation, it was Charlie Crist who made bi-partisan progress on rooting out corruption impossible.

"If Ray Sansom has nothing to hide in his dealings with Jay Odom and Northwest Florida State College, Sansom would immediately join Chair Thurman's call for an investigation. If RPOF Chairman Jim Greer has nothing to hide, he will immediately follow Florida law and release all of the Republican Party of Florida's American Express bills.

"Until this happens, Republican across Florida will remain under a cloud of wrongdoing and have no creditably to lecture anyone on ethics."
