Florida Democrats React To Holly Benson's Run For Republican Attorney General Nomination
NEWS FROM THE FLORIDA DEMOCRATIC PARTY
For Immediate Release: Oct. 29, 2009
Tallahassee, FL - The Florida Democratic Party released the following statement reacting to Holly Benson's announcement that she will run against Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp for the Republican nomination for Attorney General:
"While everyone knows Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp is a political lightweight with no record of accomplishment to base a statewide campaign on, Republicans should think twice before embracing Holly Benson's long-shot campaign for Attorney General.
"Looking at Holly Benson's resume makes Governor Crist look like a long-term dedicated employee, with her jumping from job to job quicker than Florida's hyper-ambitious Cheerleader-in-Chief, Charlie Crist.
"Benson has never prosecuted a case or sent a criminal to jail.
"As Secretary of the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, Benson did nothing to help the millions of Floridians who don't have access to quality, affordable health care. Benson's experimental Medicaid privatization scheme only served to benefit Republican Party donors while hurting Florida's families during these hard economic times.
"And if making it harder for Floridians to bring their kids to the doctor, should they get sick, wasn't bad enough, Benson had the nerve to claim that, 'Just because you're poor doesn't mean you're unhealthy, it just means you have a lot more time to go running.'" [WFSU, 07/09/2008]
