Bean Disregards Boss & Wife's Pleas to Protect Dying Poor

For Immediate Release: April 11, 2008

TALLAHASSEE - This is the latest in a session-long series that will highlight ridiculous, hypocritical, or outright false statements about the Republican Recession.

"My boss at the bank has called, who never calls ever, who serves on a hospice board and said: 'Rethink that one, Aaron. I never call you on anything, rethink that one.'"

- Rep. Aaron Bean (R-Fernandina Beach) chairman of the House Healthcare Council, who, despite personal pleas from his wife, his boss and thousands of other Floridians, went ahead and slashed the $52 million hospice program for dying Medicaid patients anyways. [Sarasota Herald-Tribune, 4/11/08]
